History and Heritage

The district is known for its numerous river fronts and beaches (Plage-Jacques-Cartier,  Plage-Idéale). The region is also developing as a vacation spot for Montrealers, especially because of its proximity to the Rivière Mille-Îles.  In the 1960s, the town of Auteuil welcomed more than 2,000 vacationers and had nearly 450 cabins on its territory.

This area also has many luxury heritage homes mainly located on boulevard des Mille-Îles, avenue des Perrons, as well as avenue des Lacasse. For architecture enthusiasts, you can discover Maison Joseph-Labelle, a French-inspired rural house dating from the 18th century.
